Disney<\/a> has set a March 31, 2028 release date for its live-action adaptation of \u201cTangled<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The news was revealed during the Disney Entertainment Showcase at the D23 fan event in Anaheim Friday, where the first footage from the \u201cTangled\u201d remake was shown exclusively to those in attendance.<\/p>\n

Starring Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, the film follows the same Brothers Grimm fairytale as the 2010 animated movie about the princess with magically long hair. After spending years locked away in an isolated tower, Rapunzel is eventually rescued by the fugitive thief, Flynn Rider.<\/p>\n

The live-action cast includes Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel, the film\u2019s antagonist who locks Rapunzel away, and Diego Luna playing a new role. Patrick and Hugo McPherson play the Stabbington brothers, two twin villains.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love playing Mother Gothel. She\u2019s stunning, hilarious, fab, kind, generous to a fault,\u201d Hahn said from the D23 stage Friday. \u201cMight be overprotective but that\u2019s because she cares so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael Gracey, who previously helmed \u201cThe Greatest Showman,\u201d directs the film from a screenplay by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Michael Montemayor. Lucy Kitada and Jessica Virtue executive produce, while Kristin Burr serves as producer.<\/p>\n

Filming began in Spain in June. The \u201cTangled\u201d live-action remake was first reported to be in development<\/a> in December 2024 but was put on hold<\/a> the following April after the \u201cSnow White\u201d adaptation failed to impress at the box office, earning only $69 million domestically and $145 million globally.<\/p>\n

The original 2010 film brought in $592 million at the global box office, with Mandy Moore voicing the bubbly, long-haired princess and Zachary Levi voicing the arrogant Flynn.
