Six people have been injured, including one critically, after a crash in Bay of Plenty.<\/p>\n

Police were called to a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 2, Waiotahe about 8pm Thursday.<\/p>\n

The road was closed near Appleton Rd while the Serious Crash Unit worked at the scene, however, it reopened about 2am, a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Hato Hone St John said four ambulances, one rapid response unit and one operations manager went to the scene.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
One person in a critical condition was taken to Tauranga, and five in moderate condition were taken to Whakat\u0101ne by ambulance.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson said three trucks \u2013 including two rescue vehicles – were sent to the scene.<\/p>\n
