\u201cThe Twelve meant a great deal to Sam, he was incredibly proud of this show of each season of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe relished his character and talked about it a lot. He thought he was a very clever man, and sort of a 007 person.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that Sam, not only does he have that gentle command … but he also had a warmth and generosity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mitchell thanked Neill\u2019s fellow actors and crew on his behalf.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe loved actors, he supported actors and I know that he found their company the most fulfilling company.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neill died in July<\/a> from pneumonia, aged 78.<\/p>\n

His family announced his sudden death on his Instagram, saying it was unexpected, but they felt blessed knowing he had died cancer-free.<\/p>\n

Neill was also acknowledged during the In Memoriam segment of the Logie awards. Mitchell said Neill was \u201cdearly loved\u201d and focused on the best in life.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said it\u2019s easy to spiral down and think \u2018What\u2019s the worst thing that can happen\u2019 but instead we should \u2018spiral up and think what\u2019s the best thing that can happen?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

She added his legacy included his acting work and a lot of \u201cgreat wine\u201d.<\/p>\n

Singer Katie Noonan sang Crowded House\u2019s Don\u2019t Dream It\u2019s Over.<\/p>\n

Other Kiwi nominees included Robyn Malcolm, nominated for best supporting actress silver Logie for her part in The Survivors and Madeleine Sami, who was in the running again for her role as Detective Eddie Redcliffe in Australian comedy Deadloch.<\/p>\n

Guy Montgomery\u2019s Guy Mont Spelling Bee missed out on best comedy entertainment programme.
