Aerfal Automotive is reviving the Porsche 904 using with a reinforced chassis by Multimatic and Tuthill.

Porsche\u2019s mid-60s 904\u00a0Carrera GTS <\/a>has long been the stuff of collectors\u2019 dreams: sleek, featherweight and born for motorsport. Now Dutch specialist Aerfal Automotive is giving it a second life, blending faithful homage with a sharp injection of modern engineering.<\/p>\n

Old soul, fresh tricks<\/p>\n

Designed by French stylist Alan Derosier and rendered by 3D artist Antoine Brigot, the new 904 stays true to the classic\u2019s mid-engined proportions and voluptuous curves. Subtle updates, including LED lighting, reshaped intakes and vintage-style alloys, add polish without diluting the silhouette.\u00a0Even the doors borrow a dramatic party trick: they rise with a section of the roof for easier cabin access. Inside, it\u2019s delightfully analogue: retro dials, minimalist dash, leather trim and a dash of titanium.<\/p>\n

A genuine 904 chassis is almost unobtainable, so Aerfal founder Daniel Robledo confirmed to Motor1 the project will ride on a Porsche 914<\/a> platform instead. The VW-Porsche co-developed two-seater was built in its tens of thousands between 1969 and 1974 – far easier to source than the 106 homologation 904s made in 1964 to 1965.<\/p>\n

But this isn\u2019t just a rebodied 914. Multimatic is reinforcing the chassis, while Tuthill handles suspension duties. Brembo brakes, Michelin rubber and BBS wheels promise that the throwback will drive as convincingly as it looks.<\/p>\n

The flat-eight returns<\/p>\n

The real headline is at the rear. Aerfal says the car will pack a reimagined flat-eight, stretching Porsche\u2019s original 2.0-litre race engine out to 4.0 litres. Air-cooled, naturally aspirated and good for about 294kW (400hp), it\u2019s rumoured Cosworth may have lent a hand. \u201cThis is not about chasing numbers, but about creating an engine that breathes character, a soundtrack and sensation that connects the driver directly to Porsche\u2019s primal racing heritage,\u201d Aerfal notes.<\/p>\n

For now, the 904 revival is a set of tantalising renderings, with a prototype build on the horizon. Pre-orders are expected to open soon. Pricing, production volume and delivery dates remain under wraps, but one thing is certain: nostalgia just got a serious shot of power.<\/p>\n
