Plans are being explored to replace gym equipment at Egerton Park, after the facilities were described as worn and damaged.

Cllr Nadim Muslim, of Egerton and Bromley Cross, said the aim was to give children and adults access to free exercise facilities.

“We just want to make sure that children have got access to facilities where it is free and they can use it to make themselves, not only have a good time, but also just feel a bit good, feel healthier.”

He said the equipment had been in place for more than ten years and was no longer working to its full strength.

He said the proposals were being considered with council officers as part of investment in local parks, with discussion with Epic Egerton’s chair Amy Cowen.

Options under proposed plans could include a cross trainer and rower, a pull down and chest press station, and an air walker and bike.

The tennis court lines have been repainted, with Cllr Muslim saying this was completed within a few days of the issue being raised with the council.

The park includes a children’s playground, bowling green and tennis courts, with organised children’s activities taking place there.

Cllr Muslim said the gym equipment would not be only for children.

“It also means that adults that are watching their children as well can take time to use the gym equipment if they want to.”

He added: “It’s not just for children, it’s for adults.

“It means they can safely watch their children and also have a bit of exercise themselves.”

The work forms part of a commitment to parks, and Cllr Muslim also referred to work at Little Brow and a swing replacement at Stonestead in the ward.

Plans are being explored to replace gym equipment at Egerton Park, after the facilities were described as worn…

[37
565,134,111,139,69
post-581811","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-fitness","tag-fitness","tag-health","tag-new-zealand","tag-newzealand","tag-nz
["GET
