The music star explained to Variety in 2020: \u201cI never really talk about my mom. She\u2019s an addict, so we don\u2019t have the closest relationship. Even trying to get her better \u2014 things didn\u2019t quite work out. But there\u2019s still love.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nas was arrested in Los Angeles in August 2025, after he was found wandering the streets of the city in the early hours of the morning.<\/p>\n
The music star subsequently revealed that he spent \u201ca few months\u201d in rehab following the high-profile incident.<\/p>\n
The chart-topping rapper \u2014 who was charged with causing injury to a police officer, and for resisting arrest \u2014 said on Instagram: \u201cI\u2019ve been in rehab for a few months, and since then I\u2019ve been back at home, whether it\u2019s in Atlanta with my family or in Los Angeles with myself and friends, trying to ground myself down to earth and get out of my head\u201d.<\/p>\n
Nas admitted that he was reluctant to discuss his bipolar disorder diagnosis in public.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I got my bipolar disorder diagnosis, I feel like I had known for like the past few years, but I didn\u2019t want to admit to it, because I didn\u2019t want to have to take medication, and have people think different of me.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, I\u2019m already black and gay. Damn god, give me like \u2014 come on, black, gay, bipolar? I\u2019m living life on extreme hard mode.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nas insisted he\u2019s now in a much better headspace compared to last year.<\/p>\n
