Three fire investigators remain on the scene of a house fire in the West Auckland suburb of Henderson that killed one person.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were called to Forest Hill Road about 8.40pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Crews from Henderson, Glen Eden, Te Atat\u016b, Auckland City, Titirangi, \u014ctara, Avondale and Mount Roskill responded.<\/p>\n
On Sunday police confirmed one person had died.<\/p>\n
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant James Kim said the cause of the fire was unexplained at this stage.<\/p>\n
Police will be carrying out a scene examination at the house, including working with fire investigators.<\/p>\n
Members of the community may see an increased presence while enquiries continue, he said.<\/p>\n
The house in Henderson Valley was well ablaze when crews arrived at the scene on Saturday night.<\/p>\n
At its peak, up to 35 firefighters were fighting the blaze, which broke out around 8.30pm.<\/p>\n
Shift manager Garreth Lewis said the house was totally ablaze when crews arrived.<\/p>\n
Six trucks, as well as one command unit and one hazardous materials unit, were sent to the scene.<\/p>\n
Lewis said crews were searching for the person, along with fighting the fire.<\/p>\n
