\u201cAuckland is becoming a truly connected city, and the opening of Beresford Square is the latest step towards a transport-friendly and transformed city centre \u2013 enabled by the City Rail Link project,\u201d said Auckland Transport\u2019s Jane Small.<\/p>\n

The general manager of the Karangahape Rd Business Association, Jamey Holloway, said the community was thrilled to have the square reopened, and invited all of Auckland to Beresford Square for this Saturday\u2019s family market.<\/p>\n

The CRL is expected to open in 2026. The official opening date is yet to be announced by Auckland Transport (AT).<\/p>\n

The cost of the project was estimated at $4.4 billion back in 2019, and ballooned to $5.5b.<\/p>\n

Two new stations have been added to the Auckland network \u2013 Te Waihorotiu Station, located near Aotea Square, and Karanga-a-Hape Station.<\/p>\n

Two existing stations, Mt Eden and Britomart have both had upgrades.<\/p>\n

AT said the CRL is expected to increase capacity on its network and decrease travel times most notably from Britomart to Mt Eden station. The travel time is expected to halve.<\/p>\n
