The other candidates in the running would likely get into Parliament via their party lists, the party said when it launched its campaign this month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Depending on election results, the strategy could mean that an overhang of more than 120 MPs in Parliament could be created.<\/p>\n

Jackson told Q+A host Jack Tame on Sunday: \u201cThe reality is [the] M\u0101ori Party have come out with their strategy. Good luck to them. They\u2019ve said that they\u2019re going to gift the party vote. We\u2019ll take the party vote.\u201d<\/p>\n

Labour\u2019s strategy has been clear, he said; it wants two ticks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re out to win the M\u0101ori seats. We\u2019ve made it very clear. We\u2019ve got some brilliant candidates.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a great launch yesterday and we want to get rid of this terrible anti-M\u0101ori Government. That\u2019s how we see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was at its M\u0101ori seats campaign launch yesterday<\/a> where Hipkins said Labour was going to win the election \u201cnot by trying to rort the system\u201d, Newsroom reported.<\/p>\n

Tame questioned Jackson over whether the party\u2019s 2017 strategy, where M\u0101ori electorate candidates were removed from the list, could be viewed in the same way as Te P\u0101ti M\u0101ori\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Jackson said that was different because it was done to maximise the number of M\u0101ori MPs in the Labour Party.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m saying we have to work the system at different times. What we did in 2017 was all the candidates came off the list to get more M\u0101ori in Labour up.\u201d<\/p>\n

His party\u2019s strategy was one of kaupapa (policy) and whakapapa (genealogy), based around jobs, health and homes, Jackson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t come into this to try and work out an overhang, we come in this to win the M\u0101ori seats and to get rid of an anti-M\u0101ori, anti-worker, anti-woman Government.\u201d<\/p>\n
