According to Auckland Transport (AT), parking infringements have fallen to 87 per week since the start of the financial year on July 1.<\/p>\n
In the 2024\/25 financial year, there were 305 infringements issued per week, and 186 a week in 2025\/26.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe initiative does seem to be working,\u201d Maungakiekie-T\u0101maki Local Board chairwoman Debbie Burrows said.<\/p>\n

The pilot introduced 60-minute parks along Onehunga Mall between Church St and Grey St, and 120-minute parking on surrounding streets including Princes St, Church St, Waller St and Arthur St.<\/p>\n
Burrows said the local board knew 30-minute parking was restrictive, based on the volume of public complaints.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe knew we had to try something, and those complaints have dropped off significantly, almost non-existent now, which is huge.\u201d<\/p>\n
Burrows said the local board had flexibility to tweak parking limits in some streets after reviewing public feedback.<\/p>\n
She encouraged the public to continue sharing their thoughts on the pilot.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are some areas that we will look at either reducing or increasing, based on the feedback that we\u2019re receiving.\u201d<\/p>\n
AT group manager parking services John Strawbridge said the initial data looked promising, but indicated not every change made was working.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe data is only part of the story, and we very much want to hear from stakeholders who use the parking on a day-to-day basis as to how and where we can make further changes,\u201d Strawbridge said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are planning a drop-in session in the town centre to give people the chance to speak to the team directly but we welcome ongoing feedback.\u201d<\/p>\n
Burrows said she doesn\u2019t believe Onehunga Mall will make the list of the region\u2019s most ticketed streets this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe compliance vehicle used to continuously be going up and down Onehunga Mall because it was a hotspot. But now, because there\u2019s varying degrees of parking limits, I don\u2019t see that [compliance] car there anywhere near as often now.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe numbers are down but I think we\u2019re also off their radar.\u201d<\/p>\n
