German car giant Volkswagen has said that management and unions had agreed to cut a further 50,000 jobs by the end of the decade, bringing total job losses to 100,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is essential to systematically align workforce levels with economic realities,\u201d the 10-brand group said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\n The firm
\n had approved a plan which involved \u201cthe reduction of around 50,000 jobs\u201d on top of the 50,000 already agreed, it added.\n <\/p>\n

Hit by US tariffs, patchy demand for electric cars and, above all, fierce competition in and from China, Europe\u2019s largest carmaker is in trouble.<\/p>\n
