Billy Ray Cyrus<\/a> has shared a post addressing speculation surrounding his daughter\u2019s new album<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Pop star Miley Cyrus<\/a> released a trailer for her forthcoming 10th album, Bass Persuades, with the teaser featuring her title as just \u201cMiley\u201d. <\/p>\n

The name change has also been reflected across her social media pages. Sharing a portrait of herself with a white rose in her mouth, she captioned the post: \u201cMusic takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That\u2019s what the title means to me.\u201d <\/p>\n

And while many fans questioned the singer\u2019s decision to drop her surname, Billy Ray Cyrus insisted it was a \u201cnatural progression\u201d for \u201can iconic superstar legend\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cFamily means more than ever now,\u201d he wrote in his own Instagram post, alongside a photo of him with Miley and her brother Braison when they were children. <\/p>\n

\u201cI always called my little girl Miley. Just\u2026 Miley. Just like I always called my little boy Braison,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cBet you didn\u2019t know\u2026 I was just CYRUS before \u2018Achy Breaky Heart\u2019 came out in \u201892. All of my swag and T-shirts only read: \u2018CYRUS SOME GAVE ALL\u2019 with a picture of a POW MIA [\u201dprisoners of war\u201d, \u201cmissing in action\u201d] flag on it\u2026 that and the words\u2026 \u2018You are not forgotten.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI told Miley yesterday I felt good about her going with her first name. I mentioned Dolly and Cher. Thinkin\u2019 about it more and more\u2026 Elvis\u2026 Prince\u2026 and so on. It\u2019s a natural progression for an iconic superstar legend. And the legend continues! Looking forward to the new album.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miley confirmed that she had reconciled with her father last year,<\/a> following years of a rumoured feud between members of the Cyrus family after he divorced her mother, Tish, in 2022. The couple were married for nearly 30 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt first, it\u2019s hard because the little kid in you reacts before the adult in you can go, \u2018Yes, that\u2019s your dad, but that\u2019s just another person that deserves to be in his bliss and to be happy,’\u201d Miley said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo my adult self has caught up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Billy Ray is in a relationship with British model and actor Elizabeth Hurley. <\/a>The couple went public with their relationship in April last year. Meanwhile, Tish remarried in August 2022 to Prison Break actor Dominic Purcell.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think timing is everything. You know, there\u2019s been enough bridges now of time to get us all reconnected,\u201d Miley told The Interview podcast last year.<\/p>\n

Miley\u2019s 10-track album is scheduled for release on 18 September. Her representatives said her new era comes as she \u201ccontinues to honour the profound influence of her godmother, Dolly Parton, whose impact has extended far beyond music throughout Miley\u2019s life and career\u201d.<\/p>\n

Parton died on Tuesday 25 August, aged 80. Following her death, Miley shared a tribute in <\/a>which she recalled one of their last conversations, which was apparently about \u201cmusic and metamorphosis\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share,\u201d she said. \u201cOur most sacred moments were private and they\u2019ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour and between our hearts.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong,\u201d she continued. \u201cI have an angel by my side. I always have.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miley said she would always love Parton, her godmother, and wanted to make her proud: \u201cMy heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply.
