Following that announcement, the event unfolded exactly as she\u2019d hoped, with family from Scotland, London, Canada, the US and Australia all gathering at her parents\u2019 property in Ramarama, South Auckland, where she grew up.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was just magic,\u201d she says. \u201cEveryone was able to come and that was so special.\u201d<\/p>\n
Although she and her groom Harrison Craigie met at high school in Auckland, they never moved beyond being acquaintances. It wasn\u2019t until five years later, at a friend\u2019s engagement party, that things changed. Harry, 32, had just returned from studying in Germany and Jordyn was driving home when she spotted him.<\/p>\n
She laughs, \u201cI was like, \u2018Harry\u2019s gotten real hot!\u2019\u201d Sober and determined, she slid into his DMs, inviting him to a party she was throwing. \u201cHe was like, \u2018Ah, I\u2019ll see. I\u2019m pretty busy.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Harry, it turns out, was finishing his thesis. <\/p>\n
\u201cI was in the final throes of writing it and pulling all-nighters,\u201d he admits. \u201cI didn\u2019t mean for it to come across as dismissive!\u201d<\/p>\n

Whatever the reason, it worked and the pair has been together for eight years. After nearly three years in London, they moved to Tauranga in late 2024, when Jordyn landed her 1News role. By the time they came home, the couple was already engaged, following a surprise proposal on a trip with Harry\u2019s family in T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\n
Harry\u2019s parents, Rob and Susan, had met there decades ago, working on boats, so the couple went sailing with them. Harry arranged for Rob to smuggle the engagement ring over from Aotearoa.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo keep it a secret from a journalist was a phenomenal task,\u201d Harry laughs. \u201cI had to use my junk email address to organise it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Moored in a bay for lunch, Harry tried to convince Jordyn to take a dinghy to a nearby island, but she wanted to read her book instead. After she eventually relented, Harry got down on one knee on the island while his family watched from the boat.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was the first and only time I\u2019ve ever been surprised in my life,\u201d Jordyn laughs. <\/p>\n

The next morning, when she called to tell her parents, Lisa and Brett, the reaction was instant. \u201cMum just yelled, \u2018Brett, I need to get a frock!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
