\u201cIf we are the only ones to stand up for and be proud of our country, our heritage, and our language then so be it \u2014 but if this group of try-hard performers don\u2019t like our stance on the English language they should naff off back home.<\/p>\n

Kneecap<\/a> appeared to take the comments in their stride.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Te Ao with Moana, group members Moglai Bap and Mo Chara were asked about Peters\u2019 remarks.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s gotta go on the poster surely,\u201d one member responded.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s invited to the party,\u201d the other said.<\/p>\n

The trio are coming to New Zealand for two shows at Auckland\u2019s Spark Arena and Wellington\u2019s TSB Arena on February 9 and 10.<\/p>\n

The invitation comes after a turbulent year for the group, with Mo Chara, also known as Liam O\u2019Hanna, facing a terrorism-related charge in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

He was charged in May last year with displaying a flag of the banned Iran-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah at a November 2024 concert in London under the UK\u2019s 2000 Terrorism Act.<\/p>\n

But he walked free from a London court in September <\/a>after Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring found a technical error in the timing of the case against him.<\/p>\n

The Crown Prosecution Service appealed in January, arguing that Goldspring erred in ruling that the written charge had been filed too late.<\/p>\n
