{"id":593178,"date":"2026-09-07T19:34:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T19:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/593178\/"},"modified":"2026-09-07T19:34:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T19:34:09","slug":"red-bull-makes-new-liam-lawson-announcement-ahead-of-spanish-gp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/593178\/","title":{"rendered":"Red Bull makes new Liam Lawson announcement ahead of Spanish GP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/team\/red-bull\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Red Bull<\/a> has announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/driver\/liam-lawson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liam Lawson<\/a> will continue in the RB22 for the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend, with Isack Hadjar still injured.<\/p>\n<p>Hadjar is on the sidelines with a wrist injury, and Red Bull has now confirmed Lawson will continue in the car for a third weekend while the French driver continues his recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Liam Lawson to continue at Red Bull with Isack Hadjar absent<\/p>\n<p>Hadjar will continue his rehabilitation on his wrist after an injury sustained during the summer break, with Lawson stepping in for a third consecutive round.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, Yuki Tsunoda will also continue to deputise at Racing Bulls for the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix at the all-new Madring Circuit, alongside Arvid Lindblad.<\/p>\n<p>Red Bull said: \u201cAfter racing for the team in Zandvoort and Monza, Liam will continue to drive alongside Max at this week\u2019s Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision has been taken as Isack\u2019s recovery continues to progress positively.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile he is not yet ready to return to the cockpit, he will be in Madrid supporting the team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone at Oracle Red Bull Racing looks forward to welcoming Isack back behind the wheel very soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Analysis from the Italian Grand Prix<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/features\/italian-grand-prix-2026-conclusions\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Italian GP conclusions: Shameless Hamilton playing dangerous game, painful Russell defeat<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/features\/italian-gp-driver-ratings-leclerc-antonelli\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Italian GP driver ratings: Another costly Leclerc mistake and an Antonelli masterclass<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lawson scored his first points as a \u2018senior\u2019 Red Bull driver with a seventh place finish at Zandvoort, but after a pit-lane start at Monza, was unable to reach the top 10.<\/p>\n<p>At the second restart, he suffered front wing damage heading to the first chicane as Nico Hulkenberg moved across track, with the Williams of Carlos Sainz having prompted the Audi driver\u2019s change of position.<\/p>\n<p>After an extra pit stop, Lawson was unable to make further headway and eventually crossed the line 14th.<\/p>\n<p>In something of an ironic knock-on effect in Madrid, Lawson\u2019s stand-in return to Red Bull will last longer than his two-race stint at the beginning of 2025, before a demotion back to Racing Bulls.<\/p>\n<p>Want to be the first to know exclusive information from the F1 paddock?
