Several runners told News12 they faced strong currents and dirty water throughout the race.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe flood was up to here,\u201d runner Marijana Dinic said, gesturing to her chest and waist.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was grabbing this woman next to me, and she grabbed me and was holding me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dinic said the water was deeper and more powerful than she expected.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought maybe 50m and it will be over, but after that it was another flood,\u201d Dinic said.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot just flood, but the current was so strong. I had to hold myself to a rail. There was a rail under the tunnel.\u201d<\/p>\n
Megan Chesney, another participant, said she decided to pull out over safety concerns about the floodwaters.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had told my friend the second that we see the river has reached the path, I\u2019m just going to make the safety call for myself,\u201d Chesney said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t know what\u2019s under this water. We don\u2019t know where the potholes are.<\/p>\n
