The software giant patched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/tech\/991178\/microsoft-patch-tuesday-record-breaking-ai-notepad\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">nearly 1,000 flaws in its biggest update ever<\/a> this month, but it also introduced some bugs that have affected businesses, developers, and gamers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">The September patch Tuesday affected folder shares on Hyper-V-based Linux virtual machines, Remote Desktop Services sessions, and some USB audio devices. Microsoft\u2019s out-of-band update, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/servicing\/os\/windows-11\/2026\/09\/kb5129194-windows-11-26h1-security-update\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">released yesterday<\/a>, addresses these issues across Windows 11 versions 26h1, 25H2, and 24H2. Microsoft has also released updates for Windows Server 2025 and 2022, the LTSC versions of Windows 10, and Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">In the past it was unusual for Microsoft to issue out-of-band updates to Windows, but it has become far more common this year. In January, the company was forced to issue four out-of-band updates after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/867647\/microsoft-windows-11-january-2026-update-bugs-issues\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">buggy Windows 11 patch<\/a>. In March, the company then had to issue two emergency updates because of <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/servicing\/os\/windows-11\/2026\/03\/march-31-2026-kb5086672-os-builds-26200-8117-and-26100-8117-out-of-band\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">installation failures<\/a> and Microsoft account <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/servicing\/os\/windows-11\/2026\/03\/march-21-2026-kb5085516-os-builds-26200-8039-and-26100-8039-out-of-band\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sign-in problems<\/a>.
