\n\tSpider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a> is still soaring to new box office<\/a> heights.<\/p>\n

\n\tSony Pictures<\/a>\u2018 spectacularly successful superhero blockbuster has become the highest-grossing title on the all-time North American chart with $936.773 million. The new domestic champion hit the top spot after 47 days of release, surpassing the previous record of $936.6 million for 2015\u2019s Star Wars: Episode VII \u2014 The Force Awakens<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpider-Man: Brand New Day\u2018s historic run has included becoming the fastest<\/a> feature to hit every major domestic milestone, from $400 million through $900 million. Additionally, it stands at No. 3 on the all-time global chart, behind overall leader Avatar and second-place title Avengers: Endgame.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDoesn\u2019t get bigger than this,\u201d read a message posted to the film\u2019s official Instagram<\/a> account. \u201cThank you to the fans for helping #SpiderManBrandNewDay make cinematic history \u2014 it\u2019s now the highest-grossing domestic release of ALL TIME at the North American box office. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, exclusively in theatres.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHailing from producers Marvel Studios<\/a> and Amy Pascal, Brand New Day centers on Tom Holland\u2019s Spider-Man as he endures a lonely existence before an unseen foe tracks him down.<\/p>\n

\n\tZendaya, Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal also star in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton\u2019s movie approaching its eighth weekend of release after launching in theaters July 31. It led the domestic box office in its first six weekends. On Aug. 25, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Spider-Man: Brand New Day had surpassed <\/a>Avengers: Endgame for No. 2 on the domestic chart.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe movie\u2019s record-breaking run has included surpassing Endgame for the biggest domestic opening weekend ever with $360 million. It went on to earn the highest-grossing first week in domestic box office history and become the second-fastest film (after Endgame) to reach $1 billion globally.<\/p>\n

\n\tBrand New Day helped make this the highest-grossing summer ever at the global box office with a sum of $4.765 billion, topping the previous record from 2013. Also adding to this summer\u2019s coffers were such hits as Christopher Nolan\u2019s The Odyssey, Toy Story 5 and The Devil Wears Prada 2. <\/p>\n

\n\tShortly after Brand New Day hit theaters, Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman spoke<\/a> to THR about the challenge of following the studio\u2019s previous Spidey movie, 2021\u2019s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Currently at No. 4 on the all-time domestic chart, that film featured the high-profile returns of previous Peter Parkers in Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c[Initially,] the problem for a while was, \u2018How do you top that?’\u201d Rothman explained. \u201cWhat do we do next when we just put in all our Spider-Men? The strategic decision was \u2014 rather than trying what we all thought would be perhaps an empty effort of going quote, unquote bigger \u2014 we just went deeper. That was a very conscious choice to focus on how we could make the audience feel.\u201d<\/p>\n
