\u201cIn addition, I\u2019d like the people who are speaking in support of the Palestinian people to know that for decades I have supported efforts that create opportunity for Palestinians and have brought young Palestinians and Israelis together to build businesses, create jobs, and forge relationships.\u201d<\/p>\n
Macklemore hit headlines when he took to the stage to open the tour, for which he was the support act, at New Jersey\u2019s MetLife Stadium on September 4, telling the crowd: \u201cOne of the reasons why I wanted to come on this tour was because I wanted to stand up here on stages in stadiums across America and say two words that are very near and dear to my heart: Free Palestine. I said, Free Palestine!\u201d<\/p>\n
Macklemore was dropped from the tour in the wake of the backlash he had sparked, while all of Ed Sheeran\u2019s other support acts quit the run in solidarity with the rapper.<\/p>\n

He then took to Instagram on Wednesday to say he\u2019s going to donate all of the money he earned from the tour, writing: \u201cWith everything that has happened over the last 48 hours, I want to bring the conversation back to where it belongs: to the Palestinian people who are still being killed, still living under military occupation, and still fighting for their freedom.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will be donating the entire $1 million of my net earnings from Ed Sheeran\u2019s Loop Tour to six organisations working directly to support the Palestinian people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Macklemore then made a public plea to Robert Kraft, the owner of the New England Patriots, as he said: \u201cI invite Robert Kraft to match my donation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhatever we disagree about, perhaps we can agree on this: Palestinian lives are worth protecting.
