A battery replacement for iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max costs $129 out of warranty in the US, $10 more than Apple charges on iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro models. Apple\u2019s repair price tool now lists every estimate for both new phones, and every other line, from a cracked screen to a broken rear camera, matches the iPhone 17 Pro.<\/p>\n

On September 13 we reported that iPhone 18 Pro went on pre-order without AppleCare+ or repair prices<\/a>. Both are now public.<\/p>\n

The out-of-warranty prices<\/p>\n

Apple\u2019s US estimate tool returns these figures, in Apple\u2019s own service labels. Last year\u2019s Pro models are alongside for comparison.<\/p>\n

Battery service is the only line that moved, and it\u2019s the same $129 on both sizes. The Pro Max still costs more for anything involving the screen: $50 more for a screen alone, and $50 more for screen and back glass together.<\/p>\n

The \u201cOther damage\u201d line is the one to watch if you\u2019re coming from an iPhone 16 Pro. Apple lists it at $729 for the 16 Pro and $829 for the 16 Pro Max, so a serious repair on the new phones costs $120 or $70 more than on those two-year-old models. Against the iPhone 17 Pro, it\u2019s unchanged.<\/p>\n

Apple doesn\u2019t give a reason for the higher battery fee. And these are estimates, not quotes: Apple\u2019s page says it will inspect the device to set the final fee, that the estimates \u201cmay be subject to tax\u201d, and that \u201ca shipping fee may be added if we need to ship your device.\u201d Apple Authorized Service Providers set their own prices.<\/p>\n

What the same repairs cost with AppleCare+<\/p>\n

Apple\u2019s AppleCare+ fee table for both iPhone 18 Pro models is identical to the iPhone 17 Pro\u2019s:<\/p>\n

On battery service, Apple\u2019s page says, \u201cWe\u2019ll replace the battery for no extra charge if the capacity drops below 80%.\u201d The theft or loss fee applies only to plans that include that coverage.<\/p>\n

What AppleCare+ costs for iPhone 18 Pro<\/p>\n

The Apple Store now prices AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss for iPhone 18 Pro at $14.99 a month, billed until you cancel, or $149.99 a year. Apple lists the same two prices for iPhone 18 Pro Max. The store also offers AppleCare One at $19.99 a month, which covers more than one device.<\/p>\n

Set against the table, one out-of-warranty screen repair on a Pro Max, at $379, costs about as much as two and a half years of annual AppleCare+ payments. A battery swap at $129 is less than a single year of cover, and AppleCare+ only replaces it for free once capacity drops below 80 percent.<\/p>\n

If you skipped AppleCare+ at checkout, you still have time. Apple gives you 60 days to add it in Settings<\/a>. If you choose a plan with theft and loss coverage, remember that Find My has to stay on<\/a> for a claim to count.<\/p>\n

How to check the price for your phone<\/p>\n

Apple\u2019s iPhone service pages at support.apple.com, such as the battery replacement page, include an \u201cEstimated service cost\u201d tool where you choose your model and see the out-of-warranty price or the AppleCare+ fee. The tool needs JavaScript, so enable it if the prices don\u2019t load.
