{"id":606219,"date":"2026-09-20T12:46:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-20T12:46:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/606219\/"},"modified":"2026-09-20T12:46:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-20T12:46:12","slug":"ukraine-fires-over-1000-drones-at-russia-including-largest-attack-on-moscow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/606219\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine fires over 1000 drones at Russia including largest attack on Moscow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ukrainian forces fired more than 1000 drones at Russia overnight, officials said Sunday, including what Moscow\u2019s mayor described as the &#8220;largest ever&#8221; attack on the Russian capital.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s Ministry of Defence said that its forces shot down 1100 Ukrainian drones across the country, as well as over the annexed Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea and the waters of the Black Sea.<\/p>\n<p>Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that 450 drones had been destroyed en route to the Russian capital. Some drones hit the Moscow Oil Refinery and a residential building, he said.<\/p>\n<p>The major attack comes on the third and final day of voting in Russia\u2019s first wartime parliamentary election, balloting that was virtually devoid of opposition to President Vladimir Putin\u2019s policies and is all but certain to cement the Kremlin\u2019s dominance.<\/p>\n<p>Russia held voting in four Ukrainian regions that Moscow illegally annexed after the war began but still doesn\u2019t fully control, and in Crimea, the Black Sea peninsula that was illegally annexed by Russia in 2014.
