Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have reportedly separated after nearly 20 years of marriage. While the news shocked Hollywood, it \u201creally hasn\u2019t been a secret\u201d to Urban\u2019s inner circle that the \u201cBabygirl\u201d actress, 58, and the country star, 57, have \u201cbeen living separately for a while now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable,\u201d a source told PEOPLE.<\/p>\n

When did the couple announce their split?<\/p>\n

The couple\u2019s separation was confirmed on Monday, September 29, just three months after their 19th wedding anniversary.<\/a> Kidman and Urban married in 2006 and have two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.<\/p>\n

They were last seen together publicly in June 2025 at the FIFA Club World Cup match between Los Angeles Football Club and Esperance de Tunis in Nashville. Days later, Kidman shared an Instagram post celebrating their anniversary, captioned: \u201cHappy Anniversary Baby \u2764\ufe0f @KeithUrban,\u201d featuring a black-and-white photo of the pair together.<\/p>\n

What have the stars been up to recently?<\/p>\n

Both have had busy summers<\/a>. Kidman recently completed filming Practical Magic 2 in London, while Urban has been touring with his High and Alive World Tour, with his next show scheduled for October 2 in Hershey, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

A source told PEOPLE that Kidman\u2019s sister, Antonia, \u201chas been a rock\u201d during the separation. \u201cThe entire Kidman family has come together to support one another,\u201d the source said. \u201cShe didn\u2019t want this. She has been fighting to save the marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n

What have they said about their relationship in the past?<\/p>\n

Kidman previously shared her secret to a lasting marriage in 2018: \u201cI think it\u2019s knowing that you have to keep contributing to what we call the \u2018us.\u2019 You go, \u2018Does this work for us?,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cWhen you make an us, it\u2019s yours together \u2014 that\u2019s what you create. Nobody else has that. It\u2019s just between the two of you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Urban also praised Kidman in April 2024 during the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award Gala, describing her \u201cheart and her spirit\u201d and saying that meeting her felt like \u201cmeeting a real-life princess.\u201d<\/p>\n
