{"id":611678,"date":"2026-09-25T19:56:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-25T19:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/611678\/"},"modified":"2026-09-25T19:56:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-25T19:56:09","slug":"second-world-of-wearableart-show-cancelled-after-crew-members-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/611678\/","title":{"rendered":"Second World of WearableArt show cancelled after crew member\u2019s death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cWhile the result of a medical event \u2013 and the production has extensive contingency plans in place \u2013 we are dealing with an exceptional set of circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">Williams said organisers had identified changes that needed to be made  behind the scenes so the remainder of the season could continue safely.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cThe team will be working on those adjustments on Saturday daytime, ready to return to the stage for the 7.30pm performance on Saturday night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">People with tickets to the cancelled matinee have been contacted about transferring to another performance or receiving a refund.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cWe understand there is deep disruption and disappointment to many WOW fans as a result of cancellation and are so very sorry,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cThis has been an extremely difficult decision to again make.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">Emergency services were called to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/nz\/person-dies-at-wellingtons-tsb-arena-where-world-of-wearableart-showing\/5DEI3V43XZDYPJVOQD4URDGWJA\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/nz\/person-dies-at-wellingtons-tsb-arena-where-world-of-wearableart-showing\/5DEI3V43XZDYPJVOQD4URDGWJA\/\"> TSB Arena on Jervois Quay yesterday morning after reports a person was experiencing an apparent medical event<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">Police said medical assistance was provided but the person died.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">Wellington Free Ambulance told the Herald it sent multiple vehicles to the indoor stadium.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">WOW described the crew member as a \u201cbeloved and valued\u201d member of its team and said additional support was being provided to cast and crew.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\"> Last night\u2019s performance was cancelled, with ticket holders offered refunds or transfers to another show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cOur thoughts and support continue to be with the crew member\u2019s family and the wider WOW wh\u0101nau,\u201d Williams said this morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cWe also extend our immense gratitude to the outpouring of aroha and support we are receiving.
