<\/p>\nAn officer has been injured after a gun was fired at police Auckland’s Flat Bush this morning.<\/p>\n
Police said the incident occurred on Chapel Road just after 9.30am when it was “conducting inquiries” in the area.<\/p>\n
The officer’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening, police said. <\/p>\n
Hato Hone St John said one person in a minor condition was taken to Middlemore Hospital. <\/p>\n

A Salvation Army housing complex has been evacuated, with a person of interest believed to be in a building in the complex. <\/p>\n
In a statement, the Salvation Army said it was aware of the incident, and it is working to confirm the details of the situation, including a potential connection to its properties or tenants.<\/p>\n
“Until we have a clearer understanding, we are unable to provide further comment.”<\/p>\n
Police negotiators and the armed offenders squad are in attendance. <\/p>\n
Sancta Maria Catholic Primary School, Sancta Maria College and Baverstock Oaks School are in lockdown.<\/p>\n
A note on the Sancta Maria school website said it was a precautionary measure and all students are safe. A message on the Baverstock Oaks Facebook page also said all children and staff are safe.<\/p>\n
Earlier, a 1News reporter at a cordon said the police Eagle helicopter was overhead.<\/p>\n

Police said Chapel Road, between Baverstock Road and Stancombe Road, has been cordoned off.<\/p>\n
“The public is advised to avoid the area.”<\/p>\n
Auckland Transport said bus routes 739 and 35 would be impacted by the ongoing situation, and would detour via Standcombe Road, Kensway Drive, and Braverstock Road.<\/p>\n
Route 35 buses would not stop at Stancombe Road\/Barry Curtis Park at stop 6434 and 6952.<\/p>\n
Police helicopter causes flight disruption at Auckland Airport<\/p>\n
The police Eagle helicopter, deployed as part of the Flat Bush operation, caused delays to air traffic near Auckland Airport this morning.<\/p>\n
Flat Bush lies within the approach path for incoming aircraft, and Airways NZ confirmed the helicopter was given priority airspace access to support the police response.<\/p>\n
As a result, two domestic flights were diverted to Hamilton, while around 20 other flights were held in the air or on the ground.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome delays are expected through the morning as operations return to normal and we work to get all flights safely to their destination,\u201d an Airways NZ spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
