Police have swarmed a south Auckland property where an officer has been shot.<\/p>\n

An officer suffered “non-life-threatening” injuries, police said.<\/p>\n

A large number of police, some armed, have blocked off the Chapel Road between Baverstock and Stancombe Road.<\/p>\n
Police have told RNZ they’re speaking via phone with someone who is holed up inside a flat.<\/p>\n
They say the person is alone inside.<\/p>\n
The Salvation Army told RNZ it was aware of an incident that occurred at or near one of its social housing properties.<\/p>\n

“At this stage, we are still working to confirm the details of the situation, including any potential connection to our tenants or properties,” a spokesperson said in a statement.<\/p>\n
“The Salvation Army is concerned about the situation, particularly the police officer involved, our tenants, the neighbours, and the impact on businesses and schools around the area.”<\/p>\n
A large number of cars are being redirected away from the cordon.<\/p>\n

An RNZ reporter at the scene also saw a police dog inside the cordon.<\/p>\n
Nearby Sancta Maria College and Sancta Maria Catholic Primary School were both in lockdown.<\/p>\n
“All students and staff are accounted for and are safely inside school buildings,” Sancta Maria College posted on its website.<\/p>\n

“Please do not come to the school or phone the school.”<\/p>\n
Sancta Maria Catholic Primary School said all students are safe and the lockdown was a precautionary measure.<\/p>\n
