The Luxeed RX electric SUV<\/a> from Chery<\/a> and Huawei<\/a> was launched in China with up to 852 km of CLTC range at 259,800 yuan (38,700 USD). It became the fastest Chinese electric SUV at the Zhejiang International Circuit, beating the Xiaomi YU7 Max.<\/p>\n

Luxeed is a joint brand between Chery and Huawei, known as part of the HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) network alongside Aito, Stelato, Maextro, and Saic (Shangjie). Aside from the RX, this brand\u2019s lineup includes the S7 sedan<\/a>, the R7 coupe-SUV<\/a>, and the V9 minivan<\/a>. The Luxeed RX became the latest model in the lineup, previously making headlines as a car designed by Werner Gruber<\/a>, who worked at Pininfarina, Ferrari, and Saleen.<\/p>\n

The Luxeed RX entered the domestic market on September 28 with a price range of 259,800 \u2013 389,800 yuan (38,700 \u2013 58,065 USD). For clarity, the Xiaomi YU7 starts at 233,500 yuan (34,780 USD) in China. We listed the trims and prices of the Luxeed RX below.<\/p>\n

The Luxeed RX is a large five-seat SUV with an unusual design language for a battery electric car. It has a long bonnet line and a pronounced dash-to-axle gap. At a glance, this model looks similar to the Ferrari Purosangue. The car\u2019s dimensions are 5020\/2007\/1585 mm with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. It is 21 mm longer than the Xiaomi YU7. The Luxeed RX adopts 20- or 22-inch wheels with a staggered tire setup (255 mm at the front and 275 mm at the rear). The Luxeed RX\u2019s taillight unit adopts 10,000 randomly arranged crystal-like elements.<\/p>\n

\nInterior of the Luxeed RX<\/p>\n

The RX\u2019s interior has a streaming rear-view mirror, a large 16.1-inch floating screen, an 8.88-inch passenger display, an LCD instrument cluster, and a 26-inch HUD. The Luxeed RX offers a total of 38 sensors and four LiDARs. One of them offers 896 lines. As a result, the RX is capable of driving from address to address automatically. The driver only needs to constantly monitor the situation.<\/p>\n

The Luxeed RX is reportedly equipped with 98 sensors and 27 air bladders in the front seats. The seat adjusts its support structure in real-time based on driving conditions and the occupant\u2019s posture, and includes an active side-bolster function. The trunk offers a standard capacity of 622 liters plus 30 liters of hidden storage space, and supports a \u201cKnock Knock\u201d hands-free opening function.<\/p>\n

\nThe Luxeed RX crossover<\/p>\n

The Luxeed RX has an active suspension and an impressive body stiffness of over 50,000 Nm\/degree. Its body adopts 90.5% high-strength steel and aluminum alloys. It utilizes 38.38 meters of hot-formed steel, including ten components made of 2200 MPa material and two made of 2400 MPa material.<\/p>\n

A single electric motor powers the entry-level Luxeed RX. It sits in the rear axle, boasting an output of 277 kW (371 hp). The dual-motor AWD variant offers a peak power of 437 kW (586 hp). Three battery options are available for 81.1 kWh, 100.25 kWh, and 100.42 kWh, suitable for 700 \u2013 852 km of range. The Luxeed RX Ultra+ lapped the Zhejiang International Circuit in 1:43.210. For clarity, the Xiaomi YU7 Max completed the lap in 1:43.384. It is worth noting that the Xiaomi YU7 GT wasn\u2019t tested on this track.<\/p>\n
