A man has been charged after damage to election hoardings in the south Auckland area this month.<\/p>\n
Police have received multiple reports of election hoardings being vandalised in Takanini since early September.<\/p>\n
Inspector Matt Hoyes said members of the public had allegedly observed a person defacing and removing signs, with police seeing them “actively vandalising” a hoarding on Great South Rd yesterday.<\/p>\n
“A 34-year-old male was arrested and charged with seven counts of theft under $2000.”<\/p>\n
Hoyes said the charges served as a reminder that deliberate damage to hoardings would be met with consequences.<\/p>\n
“We thank those who notified us of this offending as it occurred and encourage anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to report it to police.”<\/p>\n
The man will appear in Papakura District Court today.<\/p>\n
