\n\tDanny Boyle<\/a> is adamant: \u201c28 Years Later\u201d part 3 will happen.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u201828 Years 3,\u2019 or whatever it ends up being called, will get made because people keep asking about it. Quite when I\u2019m not sure, but there\u2019s a script \u2013 a very good script by Alex Garland,\u201d he said. And it will feature Cillian Murphy.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c[It will have] a lot of Cillian Murphy in it. Whether he\u2019ll take his kit off anymore, that I don\u2019t know. He\u2019s got the Oscar now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe was surprised by Murphy\u2019s physique in \u201c28 Days Later,\u201d he admitted.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe\u2019s gorgeous. When we took his kit off, I couldn\u2019t believe it. He looked like Iggy Pop! Everything was glistening. Oh my God. He\u2019s just one of those people. He doesn\u2019t work out or anything like that: he just looks like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBoyle spoke at Zurich Film Festival<\/a>, where he presented \u201cInk\u201d \u2013 and found some time to weigh in on these Bond rumors.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThey should cast Jack O\u2019Connell<\/a> as Bond,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\n\tDanny Boyle left \u201cNo Time to Die,\u201d allegedly due to creative differences with producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, as well as star Daniel Craig.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen they asked me to do Bond, we came up with the story [with John Hodge] and they lost confidence in it. It\u2019s a shame, because it could have been really good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe thinks that Denis Villeneuve will look after the franchise very well.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cVilleneuve is amazing. Did you see that beginning of [\u2018Dune: Part Three\u2019], which they showed before \u2018The Odyssey\u2019? God, if I was directing \u2018The Odyssey,\u2019 I would have thought everybody would be disappointed in my film following it. But obviously, Chris Nolan has more confidence than I have.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a masterclass at the fest, Boyle also gushed about his \u201cInk\u201d lead Jack O\u2019Connell. In a biographical drama, adapted by James Graham from his stage play, he plays Larry Lamb who accepts the offer posed by Rupert Murdoch (played by Guy Pearce) to be the editor of The Sun newspaper.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHave you seen \u2018Back to Black\u2019? It\u2019s a wonderful film. He plays the boyfriend and that\u2019s an impossible part. It was an incredible performance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI thought he should play Larry Lamb, because he\u2019s weird. Despite the fact that he\u2019s playing a monster, you\u2019re still interested in him. You\u2019re still intrigued by him and he doesn\u2019t repel you. It was true of the guy in \u2018Ink,\u2019 because by the end of the film, his moral conscience \u2013 if there ever was one \u2013 has dissolved entirely as he pursues success. And you still have to root for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI used to say it\u2019s the same as Al Pacino at the end of \u2018The Godfather Part II,\u2019 when he has ordered the murder of his brother, and yet you\u2019re still intrigued by Pacino just sitting there all alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe wanted to show a different side of Murdoch in the film.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPeople are fascinated by him, and repelled by him, but this comes from a time when he first arrived in the U.K. and was a very different figure. I thought it\u2019s really interesting not to play into the caricature of him, because back at the beginning, he wasn\u2019t like that at all. He\u2019s quite a prudish man, weirdly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThen, despite knowing that his actions go against his morality, he accepts it: \u201cBecause the numbers are good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou would describe him as a bit of a soft liberal, which is interesting, because Trump was a Democrat and now he\u2019s a Republican president. These guys move where the power is.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe added: \u201cI really do believe that what they did in 1969, and the beginning of this newspaper, has actually more impact on our lives today. There\u2019s a clear thread that runs from this ignition point to where we are today. We have lost our relationship with the truth, and by that I mean our dependable relationship with the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019ve replaced it with \u2013 and the most powerful man in the world is the best example of it \u2013 with brazen assertions and loud stories, and completely counter-intuitive declarations. Somebody tells the truth, he says it\u2019s a lie and \u2018fake news.\u2019 It\u2019s the kind of attention economy, or clickbait, that didn\u2019t exist in 1969, but you can see its origins.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe noted: \u201cYou have to acknowledge that their success is something that we\u2019re all complicit in. I think you have to accept that you can\u2019t just blame Trump, which I\u2019ve just done, but you have to accept your own responsibility in it. The idea of the film was to try and make that an engaging journey that people went on, and you discover something about where we are now, how we got there, and whether we want to do anything about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStill, change is possible, he said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere\u2019s a politician who emerged in Britain, who will probably disappoint us, but he\u2019s just become Prime Minister: Andy Burnham.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe\u2019s concentrating on a much more long-term problem rather than the divisiveness which everybody likes to encourage. He\u2019s concentrating on something that connects us all, which is how are we going to look after our older population. We\u2019re going to need a solution. So yes, change is possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
