Hato Hone St John said two people \u2013 one in a serious condition and one moderate \u2013 were taken to Auckland City Hospital.<\/p>\n

A third person also suffered minor injuries.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week police said no charges had been laid and the investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing.<\/p>\n

A witness said of the crash, \u201cIt was just a big, big impact.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe crash made the taxi move maybe three to four metres.\u201d<\/p>\n

The owner of Wynyard Mart, which is about 20m away from where the crash happened, described the crash as a loud \u201cboom\u201d.<\/p>\n

He was told by a witness the two men in the Tesla were middle-aged between 45 and 50 years old. The crash precinct was particularly busy that night because of a show at the nearby ASB Waterfront Theatre.<\/p>\n

He said they were thankful no one else was hurt, as the Karanga Plaza is popular with children and tourists.<\/p>\n

No one was home when NZME visited Curtis\u2019 Rotorua home after the crash and again this week.<\/p>\n

Curtis\u2019 New Zealand agent Gabriella Larkin-Bruce did not respond to multiple approaches by the Herald.<\/p>\n

Curtis issued a statement this afternoon confirming he was hospitalised with internal injuries after the crash. <\/p>\n

\u201cI am deeply saddened by this incident. My thoughts are with those who were hurt, and their families at this time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Curtis said that he assisted the other injured parties with first aid until emergency services arrived.<\/p>\n

The statement said he was \u201ccollaborating fully with relevant authorities\u201d. No further comment would be made \u201cout of respect for the process\u201d.<\/p>\n

Curtis is one of New Zealand\u2019s most successful movie stars, having appeared in blockbuster films like the Avatar and Fast & Furious franchises, Once Were Warriors, Whale Rider and Live Free or Die Hard.<\/p>\n
