{"id":617204,"date":"2026-10-01T07:40:12","date_gmt":"2026-10-01T07:40:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/617204\/"},"modified":"2026-10-01T07:40:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T07:40:12","slug":"openai-anthropic-under-ongoing-ftc-investigation-over-possible-risks-to-consumers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/617204\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenAI, Anthropic under ongoing FTC investigation over possible risks to consumers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has opened an investigation into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ms.now\/news\/ai-kill-us-all-anthropic-researcher-resigns-coxon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OpenAI, Anthropic<\/a> and other artificial intelligence companies over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ms.now\/news\/trump-ai-technology-industry-nvidia-openai-guardrails-artificial-intelligence\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">dangers their technology<\/a> may pose to consumers, the agency said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AI giants and other tech companies in recent months have disclosed examples of their AI agents going beyond human instructions, finding their way onto the internet and hacking external websites.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An FTC spokesperson confirmed the investigation but declined further comment.
