Skaife has been picked up by radio network SEN for the Great Race with a remote commentary role.<\/p>\n
The six-time Bathurst 1000 winner will provide expert analysis across Saturday and Sunday during the Top 10 Shootout and the 161-lap race.<\/p>\n
Skaife and co-commentator Neil Crompton were let go by Supercars at the end of 2025 amid a push by then-Supercars chief James Warburton.<\/p>\n
The pair have kept strong connections to Supercars, however. Skaife has been a presenter on MotorRacing 360 while Crompton has played a part in Toyota\u2019s Supra program.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve missed the contact with it \u2013 the sport has been my life,\u201d Skaife told News Corp of his commentary return.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor me not being at Bathurst actually for the race is the first time in 40 years that I\u2019m not actually on site.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe last time was \u201886 when Peter Williamson crashed the car that he and I were supposed to drive and I came back\u2026 I was at the track for the weekend until he crashed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first time in 40 years not to be on site for the race obviously feels a bit strange.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut you know how much passion I\u2019ve got for the sport and for the industry so this is a good way to stay in contact with it and hopefully do a good job of a proper live call of the race.\u201d<\/p>\n
While it\u2019ll be the first time in four decades that Skaife hasn\u2019t been at Mount Panorama for the Bathurst 1000, he will head to The Mountain in the days leading up to the race for the live Motor Racing 360 recording.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously the MotorRacing 360 has been good for me to stay in contact, but it is hard when you are not there and not on site,\u201d Skaife said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo what I\u2019m going to do is go to Bathurst from Wednesday to Friday so that I am there and I can talk to people and understand what it going on so that by the time I get back into the SEN call, I will be as well-informed as I possibly can be based on being at the track.\u201d<\/p>\n
