The death of a man found unresponsive on a Dunedin street<\/a> this week remains unexplained after a post-mortem examination failed to determine a cause. <\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to Leckhampton Ct at around 11pm on Wednesday, where a man was found unresponsive. <\/p>\n

“Despite efforts to revive the man, he was pronounced deceased a short time later,” police said. <\/p>\n

Detective Senior Sergeant Hayden Smale today said the post-mortem examination had been completed, but the results had not established a cause of death. <\/p>\n

“Further enquiries attempting to establish the circumstances will be undertaken over the weekend,” he said.<\/p>\n

Anyone who saw anything unusual in the Leckhampton Ct area between 8pm and 11pm on Wednesday was encouraged to contact police via 105 using file number 261001\/3548.<\/p>\n

Investigators were also seeking CCTV of dashcam footage from the area during that timeframe. <\/p>\n

Witness describes finding friend<\/p>\n

Local Roderick Woods earlier told 1News he found the man, who was one of his friends, and called 111. <\/p>\n

Woods said he had seen a person walking down the end of the road “arguing” and holding a piece of wood. <\/p>\n

“He went under the bridge here, and I then went to the bathroom and came back to my room, and it was pretty quiet after that. Then I saw a body lying on the ground after coming back from the bathroom,” he recalled. <\/p>\n

Woods said the man had blood on his face but he did not know the extent of his injuries. <\/p>\n

“I have not been to sleep at all. It’s hit a lot of me, really.”<\/p>\n

Police cordoned off the area yesterday as investigators examined the scene.<\/p>\n
