“Bermuda is full of wonderful stories and details that can easily go unnoticed in the rush of everyday life. Hidden in Plain Sight invites young photographers to slow down, look closely and discover what others might miss. Photography teaches us that seeing is more than simply looking; it’s about using creativity to find a unique perspective and capture a moment that might otherwise pass unnoticed. I can’t wait to see what young photographers capture,” said Dr Deborah Atwood, NMB Curator.

NMB Executive Director Elena Strong shared: “NMB Executive Director Elena Strong shared: “At NMB, we are committed to helping young people develop the skills needed to understand and engage with the world around them. The Grundy Youth Photography Competition encourages students to look closely at their surroundings, ask questions, think critically about what they observe, and communicate ideas through visual storytelling.

“These skills support learning across disciplines and foster a deeper appreciation of Bermuda’s natural and cultural heritage. By nurturing curiosity, creativity, observation, and critical thinking, the competition helps young people build capabilities that will serve them throughout their lives. We are also grateful for the longstanding support of Clarien Bank, The Phoenix Stores, and A.F. Smith, whose partnership has helped sustain the competition and inspire generations of young photographers.”

The spokesperson said, “Winning photographs will be exhibited in Commissioner’s House at the National Museum of Bermuda, featured in MARITimes [NMB’s annual magazine], and published on the NMB and Reg Grundy Wildlife websites.

Prizes include:

Iron Kids accounts from Clarien Bank Submission Deadlines:

Ages 7–10: October 29 “Submissions must be made online at www.nmb.bm/RG-photo-competition.
