Agadir \u2013 Morocco\u2019s tourism sector generated MAD 97.92 billion ($9.94 billion) in revenues during the first eight months of 2026, a 9.7% increase compared to the same period in 2025, according<\/a> to Morocco\u2019s Exchange Office.<\/p>\n

The latest figures reflect the sector\u2019s continued expansion, with revenues rising by approximately 81.4% over five years, from MAD 53.97 billion ($5.43 billion) in the first eight months of 2022 to MAD 97.92 billion ($9.94 billion) in 2026.<\/p>\n

The growth comes alongside an increase in tourist arrivals, with Morocco welcoming 14.1 million visitors by the end of August. This represents an increase of 608,000 tourists, or 4.5%, compared with the same period last year.<\/p>\n

August alone saw more than 2 million tourist arrivals for the first time, marking a 3% increase compared with August 2025.<\/p>\n

The rise in arrivals has also contributed to higher activity across the country\u2019s classified tourist accommodation establishments, which recorded<\/a> nearly 25.9 million overnight stays by the end of July, an increase of 8% year-on-year.<\/p>\n

Several destinations posted increases in overnight stays, with Ouarzazate leading the growth at 23%, followed by Rabat at 16%, Agadir at 11%, and Casablanca, Marrakech, and Tangier, each recording a 10% increase.<\/p>\n

European markets continued to account for a significant share of international arrivals, with France and Spain remaining Morocco\u2019s two largest source markets during the first seven months of 2026.<\/p>\n

France recorded 3.62 million arrivals, representing 30% of the total and a 7% increase compared<\/a> with the same period in 2025. Spain followed with 2.6 million arrivals, accounting for 21% of the total, although the figure declined by 3% year-on-year.<\/p>\n

The United Kingdom ranked third with 855,523 arrivals, representing 7% of the total and a 5% increase. Belgium followed with 834,388 arrivals, also accounting for 7%, up 8% compared with the previous year.<\/p>\n

Italy recorded 695,149 arrivals, or 6% of the total, marking a 5% increase, while the Netherlands registered 619,933 arrivals, up 8%. Germany recorded 593,862 arrivals, an increase of 10% year-on-year.<\/p>\n

Morocco also recorded<\/a> growth in several markets. The United States accounted for 308,324 arrivals, up 7%, while Canada registered 155,201 arrivals, an increase of 3%.<\/p>\n

Poland recorded particularly strong growth, with 140,172 arrivals, representing a 31% increase compared with the same period in 2025.<\/p>\n

The increase in tourism revenues follows a strong performance in 2025, when Morocco generated MAD 138.1 billion ($14.02 billion) in travel receipts, up 20.6% year-on-year, according to the Exchange Office.<\/p>\n

The sector also welcomed 19.8 million tourists in 2025, a 14% increase compared with 2024 and 53% more than in 2019. In 2024, tourism revenues had already reached MAD 112 billion ($11.27 billion), reflecting the sector\u2019s continued recovery and expansion.<\/p>\n

Morocco has also improved<\/a> its position in international tourism rankings.
