Dave Grohl<\/a> dedicated Foo Fighters<\/a>\u2019 performance of \u201cMy Hero\u201d at the Power to the People Festival<\/a> to \u201cmy new friend Jack.\u201d While he didn\u2019t specify Jack by his full name, former assistant U.S. attorney and special counsel Jack Smith, who was appointed to investigate Donald Trump\u2019s actions following January 6th, was spotted in the crowd<\/a>. What\u2019s more, Grohl wore an Iowa Hawkeyes T-shirt, a not-so-subtle reference to Senator Eric Schmitt\u2019s ill-fated attempt<\/a> to get Smith to perjure himself before Congress earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in Foo Fighters\u2019 set, Grohl reminisced about his time campaigning for John Kerry, while also paying tribute to his late mother, Virginia: \u201cWe traveled from town to town to town through the Midwest, small towns. And you would show up to these rallies, and there\u2019d be a couple hundred people, but they were in need of rescue. And I was looking at all these people, and I would step out on stage and explain to everybody, like, \u2018Hey man, my mom was a public school teacher for 35 years in Fairfax County. I know what it\u2019s like when we were kids.\u2019 And my mom was an amazing person that always fought the good fight.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so as we went city to city to city, town to town to town, I thought, \u2018Oh, this is what it\u2019s all about.\u2019 It\u2019s all about coming face-to-face with the people that you\u2019re here to talk to, to talk about the things that they need, to talk about rescuing them from a situation. And I\u2019m like, that\u2019s what it\u2019s all about: face-to-face, \u2018Hey, let\u2019s talk about it, man. Let\u2019s figure this shit out, right?’\u201d<\/p>\n

For their set, Foo Fighters performed \u201cTimes Like These,\u201d a cover of \u201cYoung Man Blues,\u201d \u201cAll My Life,\u201d \u201cThe Pretender, \u201cMy Hero,\u201d Best of You,\u201d and \u201cEverlong.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, Grohl joined Morello on stage during his own set to cover KISS\u2019 \u201cRock and Roll All Nite.\u201d<\/p>\n
