Max Verstappen prevailed through the trials and tribulations of the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, winning at the Sepang International Circuit upon F1’s return after nine years away.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
It marks back-to-back victories on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur for Verstappen, having also won in 2017, which was only his second triumph in F1 \u2014 he now stands on 72 grand prix wins and counting.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
In doing so, he takes the record for the longest wait between consecutive victories at a circuit, with the nine-year gap beating Nigel Mansell’s mark from Kyalami between 1985 and 1992.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
However, Kimi Antonelli’s second-place finish is the most significant development in the F1 drivers’ championship, particularly given George Russell’s late retirement from third, which changed the maths in the standings from a three-point increase and a 69-point gap to an 84-point deficit.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Fernando Alonso secured Aston Martin’s best result of the campaign, coming home eighth to secure four points.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Red Bull’s 35 points \u2014 from Verstappen’s win and Isack Hadjar’s fifth \u2014 saw a considerable swing in the fight for third in the constructors’ championship hunt, with McLaren only scoring 10 points from Oscar Piastri’s sixth and Lando Norris’ ninth.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
