\n\tCelebrities were feeling bookish at Sunday\u2019s Valentino show, as Alessandro Michele\u2019s latest fashion week guest list arrived at the library.<\/p>\n
\n\tFor the show, which was held at the Biblioth\u00e8que Sainte Genevi\u00e8ve, the designer asked guests to bring a favorite book. The halls of the centuries-old building \u2014 the first public library in France \u2014 brought back memories for Naomi Watts.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cI can\u2019t remember the last time I went into a library,\u201d she said, waxing nostalgic. \u201cI remember this is what we used to do to study. We\u2019d come and rifle through the shelves to find all the information that we needed, and you know it took hours of dedication. And now we just press a button, and it\u2019s sad. So I feel emotional actually being here.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tShe brought a copy of \u201cJane Eyre,\u201d which she called her \u201cfirst love\u201d and a classic she has never gotten over.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cI remember walking through the streets with my nose buried in that book,\u201d she said of her childhood reading habits. But she admitted to, unfortunately, being a bit more of a doomscroller than a reader these days.<\/p>\n
\n\tZoey Deutch brought Elizabeth Kolbert\u2019s \u201cThe Sixth Extinction,\u201d a Pulitzer Prize-winning nonfiction tome about the human role in our current climate crisis and leading to species disappearing around us.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cI love it, it\u2019s a great book,\u201d she said. She had just landed in Paris Sunday morning and plucked it from the bookshelf of her apartment before she changed for the show.<\/p>\n
\n\tDeutch said she is still a big reader, marking a recent change. \u201cI love to read, but I\u2019ve recently adopted the Kindle life, which I\u2019m enjoying.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tChildhood nostalgia threaded through the donations.<\/p>\n
\n\tJoe Alwyn came with Roald Dahl\u2019s \u201cJames and the Giant Peach.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cI feel like growing up, I read a lot of his books. They were favorites of mine,\u201d he said. \u201cThey were kind of scary and twisted for childhood books, but they became adventurous and magical and special.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tThai star Jeff Satur brought self-development guide \u201cManifest\u201d by Roxie Nafousi, which he said he reads as a ritual every night before going to sleep. He hoped to pass on the special message. \u201cI want to bring this and just give it to another person,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\n\tAlexander Skarsg\u00e5rd went even further back, bringing \u201cIsl\u00e4ndska Sagor,\u201d the tome of Swedish tales about the first settlers of Iceland akin to the Norse \u201cIliad,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s part of our mythology and learning about our past,\u201d he said, adding how he grew up with the stories.<\/p>\n
\n\tSkarsg\u00e5rd\u2019s copy was in his native language, which is what he grew up reading. \u201cIt\u2019s in Swedish, so for the few people who understand Swedish here \u2014 but it\u2019s a fascinating book.\u2026Those tales are very famous in Scandinavia.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tAnd unlike some of his fellow guests, Skarsg\u00e5rd had a firm position on the modern reading dilemma. \u201cI try not to doomscroll. I prefer to read fiction.\u201d<\/p>\n
