The increase was led by cosmetics, toiletries and medical goods, and computer and telecommunications equipment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">Excluding motor vehicles, parts and accessories, retail sales increased 1.6 per cent, up marginally from July\u2019s 1.3 per cent growth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">On a seasonally adjusted, month-on-month basis, retail sales fell 1 per cent in August, reversing the previous month\u2019s 0.6 per cent expansion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">Excluding motor vehicles, parts and accessories, retail sales inched up 0.6 per cent on the month, compared with July\u2019s 0.4 per cent expansion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-6 border-b border-gray-200 pb-4 font-poppins text-4xs font-medium
