Firefighters provided Singh with life support until St John ambulance paramedics arrived at the scene and transported him to Auckland City Hospital.<\/p>\n
From his Auckland home where he is on enforced bed rest, Singh told the Herald he needed stitches in his head after striking the window glass and suffered eight broken ribs, a broken collarbone, a lower hip fracture and multiple injuries to his hand.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith that pressure, my chest got pressed and my lungs bled inside,\u201d he said. \u201cBecause of that, I couldn\u2019t breathe at that time, and I forgot everything that had happened.\u201d<\/p>\n
The private taxi driver was put on oxygen for about five days and experienced short-term memory loss after a concussion.<\/p>\n
\u201cLike I wake up, I know what is going on here and there, and when I close my eyes, then everything is washed [away].\u201d<\/p>\n

Singh was starting to recall things better now since being discharged from hospital but was still struggling to remember the details of the night.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know from where the car came and how they hit,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Singh said his doctor had told him he would need to remain on bed rest for 60 days, putting him out of work for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m sitting in at home and I don\u2019t know what will happen,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m the only child of my parents. I have responsibilities, so it\u2019s really hard. I already have anxiety issues, so they gave me medicines which are very strong.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another local driver, Jeet, said the crash would have a significant financial impact on Singh.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are always on the road, and we always try not to get involved in any incident. We don\u2019t want anything where it stops our night.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the end of the day, he did nothing and loses a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n
