The Good Will Hunting star has a different perspective on grief, life and appreciating those around him after the deaths of former public school teacher Chris and aspiring playwright Timothy, who divorced in 1984.<\/p>\n
Ben said: \u201cOften the end of life isn\u2019t full of wisdom and resolve. Stuff you haven\u2019t fixed in life stays unfixed.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd in the case of my mom, she was pretty extraordinary and brave. I mean, she\u2019s an amazing woman, and her death really did cause me to even more deeply and fully appreciate her and her life.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut yeah, you face that stuff and it makes you think, \u2018Okay, how do I want to spend the rest of this time?\u2019 Because you realise there\u2019s not all that much of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Rip entertainer also said he \u201chad a complicated relationship\u201d with Timothy, noting it was \u201cnot a very close one for the last few years of his life\u201d.<\/p>\n
Ben understands that while losing a parent is heartbreaking, it is ultimately a part of life.<\/p>\n
The Animals director-and-cast member said: \u201cIt is horrible, but it\u2019s not tragic. You think it\u2019d be really sad and not a tragedy. That was an interesting thing. This is normal. I certainly don\u2019t want to outlive my children. That would be the worst thing I could imagine.<\/p>\n
