Last month, Lewis Hamilton revealed he had achieved one of his life-long dreams by purchasing a Ferrari F40, the late 1980s and early 1990s star which was one of the world\u2019s first supercars.<\/p>\n

At the time,<\/a> Hamilton said he had found the F40 in \u2018barn find\u2019 specification having been garaged for more than three decades, with restoration works already underway via Ferrari’s Classiche program.<\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t take long for the F40 to surface, with Hamilton taking it to the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, where he posed for photos with the Ferrari on Monza\u2019s famed banked corners, though he has now provided an update about the restoration works undertaken on his supercar.<\/p>\n

In a video posted to YouTube, the arrival of the F40 at Maranello was documented, showing that the 1991-built car had completed just 69km since new, as its previous owner reportedly drove it home and parked it up straight away.<\/p>\n

With the twin-turbo 2.9-litre V8 removed, Ferrari\u2019s mechanics were able to find a special link between the F40 and Hamilton, revealing it had been fitted with engine number 44 \u2013 the same as what the Formula 1 champion has had as his racing number since 2014.<\/p>\n

Since revealed with vanity \u201844\u2019 plates, Hamilton has admitted he\u2019s unsure on how much to drive the F40, as its already low usage and now extensive restoration means it\u2019s likely one of the closest to factory examples surviving.<\/p>\n
