\n\tHungarian filmmaker K\u00e1lm\u00e1n Nagy<\/a>\u2019s psychological family drama \u201cThe Shame of the Borb\u00e9ly Family\u201d has begun production in Austria and Hungary. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is produced by Andi G. Hess<\/a> together with Johannes Schubert under the Austrian-German production outfit Schubert, whose latest feature \u201cRose\u201d is Austria\u2019s Oscar submission and earned Sandra H\u00fcller a Silver Bear at this year\u2019s Berlinale.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Shame of the Borb\u00e9ly Family,\u201d which stars Zsolt Nagy, Em\u0151ke P\u00e1l and \u00c1goston S\u00e1fr\u00e1ny, centers on a family confronted with a fatal act of violence involving their teenage son. As they face public judgment and personal trauma, guilt and shame begin to pull the family apart \u2013 until an even deeper moral dilemma comes to light.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe four-country European co-production brings together Lupa Pictures in Hungary, led by Petra Iv\u00e1nyi, Sweden\u2019s two-time Palme d\u2019Or-winning producer Erik Hemmendorff (\u201cTriangle of Sadness,\u201d \u201cThe Square\u201d) of Plattform Produktion in Sweden, Marta Br\u00f3dka\u2019s Lumiere de Cinema in Poland and executive producer Kristina B\u00f6rjeson of Film i V\u00e4st.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Hungarian-language feature marks Nagy\u2019s directorial debut. Nagy, who is based in Austria, is a graduate of Michael Haneke\u2019s directing class at the Film Academy Vienna. The project was selected for the Les Arcs Talent Village and was later presented at the CineLink Co-Production Market.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe international co-production is supported by Eurimages, the Austrian Film Institute, the Vienna Film Fund, the Lower Austrian Film Fund, the Hungarian Film Incentive and the Polish Film Institute. It is produced in collaboration with Austrian public broadcaster ORF.
