That description isn\u2019t entirely off base. This special edition takes the already gaming-focused Pova 8 Pro 5G and gives it a Tonino Lamborghini makeover<\/a>, complete with a black-and-red finish, geometric detailing, illuminated rear panel, themed software, and branding that isn\u2019t interested in keeping a low profile.<\/p>\n

Underneath the styling is a surprisingly practical phone. There\u2019s a 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate processor, dedicated graphics chip, 6,500mAh battery, 45W charging, and an unusually comprehensive collection of water and dust resistance ratings.<\/p>\n

It makes for an interesting combination. The Lamborghini branding grabs the attention, but the battery, display, durability, and gaming features give the phone substance once the novelty wears off.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s one very large catch for AndroidGuys readers in the United States: this isn\u2019t really a phone designed for them.<\/p>\n

Design and Build<\/p>\n

TECNO calls the design language \u201cInterstellar Spaceship,\u201d though the Tonino Lamborghini influence is considerably easier to identify.<\/p>\n

The phone is predominantly black with a vertical red Pulse Line running down its back. A hexagonal pattern sits beneath the rear surface and becomes more apparent as light moves across it. The effect gives the phone some visual depth without covering the entire thing in graphics.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no mistaking this for a Pixel or Galaxy. And I love that about the phone. I\u2019m a sucker for handsets who dare to be ambitious or bold in their designs and this is one of the most interesting looking devices I\u2019ve held in some time.<\/p>\n

The triangular \u201cPrism Trinity\u201d camera arrangement adds to the geometric appearance, with a metallic Tonino Lamborghini badge completing the package. It\u2019s aggressive without wandering too far into the territory occupied by some dedicated gaming phones.<\/p>\n

The limited edition uses a metal frame, Panda Glass rear panel, and Gorilla Glass 7i over the display. At 7.39mm thick and 189 grams, it\u2019s surprisingly trim.. especially when you consider TECNO squeezed a 6,500mAh battery inside.<\/p>\n

Durability may be one of the more overlooked parts of the package and it\u2019s easy to see why. Everything looks so cool and premium so one might assume it\u2019s also delicate. Indeed, it\u2019s anything but. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s an unusual level of protection for something this thin. And cool looking.<\/p>\n

The Rear Lights Have a Purpose<\/p>\n

Next to the cameras is TECNO\u2019s Alive Matrix Display, built from 177 mini-LEDs. It provides lighting effects for calls, unread messages, charging, file transfers, and certain gaming activities. TECNO supports more than 49 scenarios, and users can choose which apps or events activate the lighting.<\/p>\n

Is it necessary? No. Is a Lamborghini-themed phone really the place to start arguing for restraint? Probably not.<\/p>\n

And to be clear, this particular feature is not exclusive to the Tonino Lamborghini edition of the phone. The standard POCA 8 Pro 5G has that same nifty detail.<\/p>\n

Display<\/p>\n

The 6.78-inch AMOLED panel is one of the stronger parts of the Pova 8 Pro. Resolution comes in at 1208 x 2644, or roughly 1.5K, with 10-bit color and DCI-P3 coverage. The panel can operate at up to 144Hz, giving scrolling, animations, and compatible games the fluid response expected from a gaming-oriented phone.<\/p>\n

TECNO rates full-screen High Brightness Mode at 1,600 nits and localized peak brightness at 4,500 nits for supported content. Those figures aren\u2019t directly comparable to everyday brightness, but outdoor visibility shouldn\u2019t be a major concern based on the available specifications.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a 2,800Hz instantaneous touch sampling mode aimed at gaming, paired with TECNO\u2019s Wet and Oily Finger Touch Recognition 2.0. The latter keeps the touchscreen responsive when moisture or greasy fingers would normally make capacitive displays behave erratically.<\/p>\n

TECNO uses 2,592Hz PWM dimming at lower brightness levels and carries T\u00dcV Rheinland Eye Comfort certification. People sensitive to OLED flicker may find that particularly useful during nighttime use.<\/p>\n

For normal Android duties, that\u2019s plenty. Apps, messaging, browsing, social media, and multitasking shouldn\u2019t pose much trouble.<\/p>\n

TECNO supplements the MediaTek processor with its P1 Graphic Chip, a secondary processor dedicated to frame interpolation and image upscaling. In supported games, it can generate intermediate frames to produce output as high as 144fps.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s an important distinction worth pointing out. Frame interpolation doesn\u2019t turn the Dimensity 7400 Ultimate into a flagship gaming chipset. Demanding titles may still expose the limits of the underlying processor. Games can run fairly smoothly around 30fps at medium settings, but users shouldn\u2019t expect maximum graphical settings and maximum frame rates at the same time. That\u2019s a reasonable compromise for the hardware class.<\/p>\n

A 5,000mm\u00b2 vapor chamber helps manage temperatures during longer gaming sessions, and an X-axis linear motor works with TECNO\u2019s 4D Game Vibration Engine 3.0 to provide contextual haptic effects.<\/p>\n

Configurations include 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. TECNO provides virtual memory expansion, though storage-based virtual RAM shouldn\u2019t be confused with actual physical memory. This seems to be a feature that\u2019s becoming more prevalent in phones and one worth understanding.<\/p>\n

Software<\/p>\n

The phone ships with Android 16 and HiOS 16, with this edition receiving its own Tonino Lamborghini treatment.<\/p>\n

Black-and-red widgets, icons, wallpapers, ringtones, and boot animations carry the theme into the software. Thankfully, owners aren\u2019t forced to keep every preinstalled application. Unwanted apps can be removed after setup.<\/p>\n

TECNO\u2019s AI tools cover many of the areas now familiar across Android devices. Circle to Search is present, joined by Ella AI, writing and translation features, call summaries, and AI-assisted photo editing.<\/p>\n

TECNO promises two major Android version updates and three years of security patches. That feels stingy next to phones receiving considerably longer support commitments.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s particularly frustrating here. TECNO built a phone with extensive water resistance, drop protection, and battery-focused longevity features, then gave the software a comparatively short runway. The hardware appears prepared to stick around longer than its update policy.<\/p>\n
