Former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon says he is 90% certain that Chinese spies have infiltrated two of America’s leading artificial intelligence companies, warning that Beijing could steal technological breakthroughs regardless of whether U.S. developers slow their progress. <\/p>\n

But, he’s not alone in his train of thinking amid the mounting doomsday narrative<\/a> surrounding the national security implications of advanced AI and the intensifying competition<\/a> between the United States and China. <\/p>\n Coxon resigned from Anthropic<\/a> in September and has since publicly warned that the race to develop increasingly capable AI systems could create serious risks if companies prioritize technological advancement over safety. <\/p>\n In his resignation announcement on X<\/a>, Coxon wrote: “I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pre-training research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly.
