{"id":626085,"date":"2026-10-10T04:58:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-10T04:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/626085\/"},"modified":"2026-10-10T04:58:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-10T04:58:09","slug":"supercars-news-rogue-ducks-trigger-clash-between-supercars-champions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/626085\/","title":{"rendered":"Supercars news: Rogue ducks trigger clash between Supercars champions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Split-Image-diagonal-copy-1.jpg\" class=\"sc-hero-img\" alt=\"Rogue ducks trigger clash between Supercars champions\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tDouble yellow flags were waved after ducks made their way onto the track during Practice 6 of the Bathurst 1000.<\/p>\n<p>Courtney\u2019s Team 18 Camaro slammed the back of Winterbottom\u2019s Tickford Mustang when the latter slowed for a yellow flag halfway down Conrod Straight.<\/p>\n<p>The yellow had been called due to the presence of ducks on the circuit, which subsequently resulted in a red flag.<\/p>\n<p>Both cars were driven back to the pits for repairs, with their bemused co-drivers left to explain the scenario.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow funny, the two commentary blokes crashing into each other,\u201d Winterbottom dead-panned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously double waved yellow, I backed off there and he\u2019s hit me full noise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s done a fair bit of damage. You\u2019re not sure if a kangaroo is going to jump out, there\u2019s limited comms\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe hit me hard so we\u2019ve both got damage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The television broadcast replayed a communication to Courtney wanting him that a yellow had been called for \u201canimals\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was strange,\u201d Courtney said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just started going so I got up it, Mark and I are going, and then all of a sudden he jumped on the brake halfway down the straight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was either the wall or the back of him.
