It’s a busy Sunday again for the political world, with most of the parties out on the campaign trail.<\/p>\n
Yesterday, New Zealand First leader Winston Peters said ACT’s policy to cut foreign aid is “mindless”.<\/p>\n
ACT is proposing to cut foreign aid to 2017 levels, saving around $283 million a year.<\/p>\n
It says foreign aid is taxpayers’ money and should face the same scrutiny as spending here.<\/p>\n
But Peters, who described the policy as “training wheel stuff,” said it would leave New Zealand with no influence.<\/p>\n
“It’s high time that they left it to the adults in the room on this matter. This is extraordinary,” he said.<\/p>\n
“What are their qualifications in this field? What’s their experience? Who have they known, and who have they met? And the answer is zero.”<\/p>\n
