\n\tAshnikko<\/a> has made her Like A Version<\/a> debut on triple j<\/a>, taking on Gwen Stefani<\/a>\u2019s 2004 solo hit \u201cWhat You Waiting For?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPerforming in the triple j studio while on her Australian tour, Ashnikko brought a full backing band \u2014 including a harpist \u2014 for a theatrical, electropop-leaning take that stayed largely faithful to Stefani\u2019s original while adding her own flair. For her own song, she performed \u201cSticky Fingers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe cover was a personal choice. Ashnikko described \u201cWhat You Waiting For?\u201d as \u201cthe song of my childhood\u201d and the track that inspired her to pursue music, crediting Stefani\u2019s debut solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby. as a formative influence on her own artistry. Baby. peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200<\/a>, spawning the hits \u201cHollaback Girl\u201d \u2014 Stefani\u2019s first Hot 100 No. 1 \u2014 and \u201cRich Girl.\u201d Stefani is also a four-time Grammy winner and the longtime frontwoman of No Doubt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmerican artist Ashnikko broke through in 2019 with \u201cStupid,\u201d a viral TikTok hit that reached No. 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has been certified platinum. Her 2023 debut album Weedkiller reached the Billboard 200, and she has built a devoted following with her genre-blurring blend of hyperpop, rap and alternative. The Like A Version appearance adds to a long line of memorable covers from the triple j segment, which has become an Australian institution.<\/p>\n
