Treasure Island (MGM+, Sunday, 10 p.m., series premiere) An action-packed reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson\u2019s 1883 novel of the same name, this six-episode British miniseries follows 18th-century teenager Jim Hawkins (Tom Sweet) and his formidable mother Bess (Hayley Atwell), who come into possession of an old treasure map and get dragged into a deadly race for Captain Flint\u2019s buried gold. Voyaging aboard The Hispaniola, the mother-son duo navigate threats from both infamous pirate Long John Silver (David Oyelowo) and revolutionary spy Aaron Graham (Jack Huston). Look for The A.V. Club\u2019s review on Monday.<\/p>\n
VisionQuest (Disney+, Wednesday, 9 p.m., series premiere) Concluding the trilogy that kicked off with 2021\u2019s WandaVision and continued with 2024\u2019s Agatha All Along, this MCU miniseries picks up with Paul Bettany\u2019s Vision living in hiding after escaping from government forces. When a bounty is placed on his head, however, he sets off with a mysterious teen named Thomas Shepherd (Ruaridh Mollica) as well as his collection of internal AI personas, including the powerful supervillain Ultron (voiced by James Spader). Elizabeth Olsen is reportedly not returning as the Scarlet Witch, but Todd Stashwick, T\u2019Nia Miller, Emily Hampshire, and James D\u2019Arcy also star. Watch for The A.V. Crystal Lake (Peacock, Thursday, series premiere) A prequel to the Friday The 13th film franchise, this eight-episode slasher series digs into the bloody 1970s origins of the Voorhees family, led by single mom Pam (Linda Cardellini). Mourning the death of her only son\u2014the future hockey mask-wearing murderer Jason (Callum Vinson), who drowned at the titular summer camp\u2014Pam desperately clings to the belief that her boy is still alive. However, her grief is disrupted when the town\u2019s chief of police (William Catlett) and his journalist sister (Devin Kessler) begin investigating unusual deaths in the area and uncovering Pam\u2019s troubled past. We\u2019ll have our review of the series Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Norm: The Tale Of Norm Macdonald (Netflix, Friday, documentary premiere) The master of deadpan humor gets an affectionate bio-doc from director Judd Apatow, who lets the titular late comedian and Saturday Night Live icon narrate his own story. Using rare home videos, personal photos and archival footage, the film traces Macdonald\u2019s life and career, from his roots in rural Canada and early stand-up days to his iconic \u201cWeekend Update\u201d era (and subsequent firing) and beyond. Macdonald has a long-standing reputation as a \u201ccomic\u2019s comic,\u201d so it\u2019s not a shock to see the participation of peers like David Letterman, Sarah Silverman, Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler, and David Spade throughout the doc.\u00a0<\/p>\n
