A couple who helped a girl to safety after she was assaulted in Invercargill are being urged to come forward. <\/p>\n
Acting Detective Sergeant Chris Guild said the assault at Queens Park occurred on October 2, and two young people arrested in relation to the incident appeared in Invercargill Youth Court last week. <\/p>\n
“Police are now appealing for any witnesses of the assault to please come forward. In particular, we want to speak with the good Samaritans who picked up the victim and took them home,” he said. <\/p>\n
The pair was described as a couple in a vehicle that was possibly orange or a similar colour. They picked up the victim sometime between 10pm and midnight on October 2. <\/p>\n
“Police have been unable to confirm where exactly she was picked up from, but believe it was either on Kelvin, Gala, or Herbert Street around Queens Park,” Guild said. <\/p>\n
Anyone with information about the incident, or who witnessed anything else out of the ordinary on that night should contact police online, or by calling 105. <\/p>\n
The arrested pair were due to reappear in court on October 23. <\/p>\n
