Jordan and Austin Butler are getting ready to roll up their blazer sleeves as Miami\u2019s most famous and stylish undercover detectives. On Monday, Universal announced that production is underway on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avclub.com\/michael-b-jordan-austin-butler-miami-vice-85-joseph-kosinski\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joseph Kosinski\u2019s Miami Vice \u201985<\/a> by sharing two images of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DeZJJ_sydhq\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jordan as Ricardo Tubbs<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DeZL3YiyVa8\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Butler as Sonny Crockett<\/a>, dressed in their Miami finest and armed with guns. In the photos, Jordan gives the camera his most intimidating, \u201cdon\u2019t mess with me\u201d stare, decked in all-black attire with a tie and a leather jacket (which begs the question: Isn\u2019t that one layer too many for Miami Vice weather?). The franchise began with the \u201980s series Miami Vice, which ran for five seasons and starred Philip Michael Thomas and Don Johnson as the crime-busting detective duo. At the time, the show was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avclub.com\/how-miami-vice-launched-the-80s-on-tv-then-died-with-1798232906\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">celebrated for its cinematic look and sound<\/a> (and its famous \u201cIn The Air Tonight\u201d needle drop). Michael Mann, the creative force behind the show\u2019s success, later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avclub.com\/miami-vice-michael-mann-anniversary-digital-filmmaking-looks-like-that-on-purpose\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wrote and directed his own 2006 film<\/a> starring Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell, which earned mixed reviews. Kosinski will film his reboot of Miami Vice for IMAX (which tracks, given his past work behind the camera for Top Gun: Maverick and F1), from a script written by Dan Gilroy. The movie will star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avclub.com\/alden-ehrenreich-joins-cast-of-miami-vice-85\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alden Ehrenreich<\/a>, Camila Morrone, Whitney Peak, Danny Ramirez, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avclub.com\/alden-ehrenreich-joins-cast-of-miami-vice-85\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">John Leguizamo as a cartel leader<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avclub.com\/walton-goggins-cast-opposite-michael-b-jordan-in-miami-vice-85\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Walton Goggins, most likely playing a henchman<\/a>.
